Building Awareness of Food Heritage

At Cucina di Madre Terra, we're dedicated to conserving indigenous culinary knowledge through the preservation, documentation, and revival of traditional Southern U.S. food agriculture. We believe that local food heritage is a potent yet underdeveloped tool for economic development.

Our mission is to increase consumers’ awareness and demand for healthy, local cuisine and produce by establishing lasting connections between urban and rural communities. Through these partnerships, small farmers and producers can educate and inform consumers about culinary and agricultural traditions, facilitating product pipelines and fostering a thriving local food economy.

Buy Local. Eat Local.

Our primary focus is to facilitate and promote local food ecosystems which include producers (both large scale and small), retailers, processors, restaurants, institutional catering, and organizations which distribute food to people on a low income. We recognize a network of local food businesses already exists. What turns this network into an ecosystem is when all of its members work collaboratively to support one another and achieve a level of functioning that wouldn’t be possible individually. Through mentorship and pro bono strategic planning and grants for critical marketing programs, we foster local producers in ways to enhance their viability and service to the community.
